You want to see a new feature?

Some ideas for future

Postby milos.kroulik » 05.01.2008, 23:38

Hi!
I discovered Collabtive with 0.1 and started playing with it. From first moment I liked it and now with 0.2 I am considering it as tool for our NGO.

I would like to see following (in no particular order):
  • ability to enable or disable some features, most importantly milestones and tasklists. I think that for some projects simple structure Project -> Tasks (opened and colsed) is enough.
  • ability to set priority for any task
  • ability to set and show Full name for every user
  • Show more informations on project dashboard (most importantly last messages, tasks and files)
  • create non-shared translation strings for actions. For example instead "Task | was | added" simple string "Task was added". It is important in some languages like Czech, which I translated Collabtive into.
  • I really believe, that user, that tries to access project, which he isn't part of, must be warned better than with "you don't belong to this project" white screen". Perhaps "Do you want to join this project?" offer would be fine. Of course administrators should be able to restrict access of users to various projects.
  • I don't know why, but if I edit project later, I can't assign users any more.

I also found some bugs, mentioned in other place.

Thanks for great effort,

Milhaus

We would be glad seeing you using it, to do good things to society :)

Will be implemented at some point.
First we will implement proper user permissions.
This way you could simplay restrict what modules regular users may use.

  • ability to set priority for any task

  • Will be implemented in one of the upcoming releases.
  • ability to set and show Full name for every user

  • Will be implemented in the next release.
  • Show more informations on project dashboard (most importantly last messages, tasks and files)

  • Will be improved in the next release.
Tasks are already displayed on the Desktop in the "My Tasks" block.

  • create non-shared translation strings for actions. For example instead "Task | was | added" simple string "Task was added". It is important in some languages like Czech, which I translated Collabtive into.

  • Yes... i somewhat knew this would be coming.
Will be done at some point :)

  • I really believe, that user, that tries to access project, which he isn't part of, must be warned better than with "you don't belong to this project" white screen". Perhaps "Do you want to join this project?" offer would be fine. Of course administrators should be able to restrict access of users to various projects.

  • Yes, of course.
Those Messages will be looking a lot nicer in the next version.
  • I don't know why, but if I edit project later, I can't assign users any more.

  • Can't reproduce this one at the moment.
When i add a project, then edit it - i can still assign in deassign users in the admin area. :?:

    Thanks for great effort,

    Milhaus
