Sending EMail with SMTP

Postby cschaefer » 08.05.2012, 15:47

I installed collabtive075 into XAMPP1.7.3 [Apache2.2.14; PHP5.3.1; MySQL5.1.41]. It installed without error and I am able to create users, milestones and seem to be able to use all functions except email. I do have SMTP email working with other software like Joomla using "smtp.gmail.com" as the server. However, when I update the server settings [in the email section signed in as admin] there seems to be no way to allow SSL and ports. For example, to get the flow in other applications I know gmail requires port 465 using TLS or SSL.

I attached a screenshot of what I see and can manage in the admin system settings profile.

When I assign a task the email notification never seems to complete; however I do not receive any error message.

What and where do I update or need to configure??

This posting: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1412#p4196 explains how to use ports and SSL
There is also an example for gmail there.

Hope that helps.

Thank you. It works perfectly. Beautiful!! The email sends when I set a task to a user.

However, a router question... the email sends a link back to Collabtive task login [ in the case: "http://jaxfantom.dyndns.info/collabtive/managetask.php?action=showtask&id=1&tid=3"], but never finds it's way to my server. It displays my router login page. What port is it looking for to route to the htdocs/collabtive application and MySQL database???

My server is set for 80 and I have various other ports like 8383 for ebooks and 8080 as a file server. Do I need to make new port specifically for Collabtive?? If so, why and where? Is this an email issue. I have no mail service running on XAMPP1.78.3

I am not sure if you fixed your problem or not, but when I went to the url you provided, I was able to see the collabtive's login page.

Really!

That's great. I need to try while not inside my network... must be some smart switch in my LAN routing me back??

Thank you for the feedback.

I'll continue to tweak and test.
